Easy Stitching Purse

These little needlecases were so easy to make! I think I ended up making about 5! The pattern was in P & S Vol 7 No. 5. They don't have to be just used for your needles and scissors, you could use it to keep bandaids, headache tabs etc. When flap is lifted, it reveals 3 little pockets...! I made up some sausage rolls today...some to take to my kids at school...some for Grand final Day! I usually make up 100 or so. I like to make enough for a couple of meals or put some in freezer. I also wanted to take a pic to try out the cuisine setting on my camera, as I hadn't used it before...lots of functions on my camera that I didn't realize were there...It pays to play!

Hope you all have a great Grand Final weekend!

A bit of Playing...and some Painting!

I wanted to make a quick xmas cushion...this is what I came up with!

I was asked to paint some wooden spoons by our local Indoor Bowls Club, (for the wooden spooners) not sure what to paint as I didn't have much room, so I went with my favourites- gum blossom, banksia, wattle & bottlebrush! I painted the Eastern Spinebill on a bucket some time ago..I love having them visit my garden!

My Birthday....

Today is my 38th birthday. Hubby bought me a lovely handbag, and the kids got me the blocks with DREAM on it. I spotted it in the local teddy bear shop and gave a few hints...just loved the colours in it. My sister made me the cute snowman stocking...she's been playing with her new embroidery machine again! My little girl (7)made me a card with some lovely drawings on it, one of the pictures was of a bat!....wonder if she was trying to secretly tell me something!Lol! I have just been spending a quiet day at home, and am going out soon to light my little fire in the sewing room, so it will be nice and warm for when I go out to do the binding on my Angel quilt. Hope you all have a great weekend.

A Few things....!

I was lucky enough to receive a pressie from my sister (no blog)...yet! A little bag and needle case. She has just bought a new Brother embroidery and sewing machine. The needle case has a design from the machine on it!..very cute! This week I have finished a Christine Book stitchery, which I made into a wallhanging, and have also been working on my Angel quilt. I am going to do the blanket stitch on the scollop border, and the faces today, so will hopefully have it ready for quilting this weekend .

Prim fields Homespun!

Last year, I entered a competition in Homespun mag to win some lovely prim fabrics. As I'm not too good at poems...I sent my clever SIL a text msg in SA asking if she was any good at poems...after explaining what primitive was (as she is a non-crafter!) she sent back in about 5 acrostic poem via text! So I set about designing a cushion, taking a pic' and sending to Homespun! I received a phone call from Catherine Sanchez (Homespun editor) saying that unfortunately, I didn't win comp, but they wanted to feature my cushion in there magazine- a special primitive issue! I had to pinch myself!! So thats how 'Prim Fields" cushion was born! So, I think it pays to give these things a go, you never know what might happen!! Hope you all have a great weekend!

My Sewing Room...

We have started building onto our existing house (at the footing stage at moment)-for WIR, sep-toilet, laundry and sewing room with covered verandah! YAH! But in order to have a sewing room, we had to dismantle our back verandah and remove my rose garden & 2 year old weeping cherry tree. We moved our roses, which I know are pretty tough, but was worried if the weeping cherry would survive the move. But I am pleased to say, I've noticed some buds appear! So all is good!

We have put in a laundry and toilet in our shed (which was my sewing room store-room) next to my sewing room, and on the other side, is the rumpus room, which we lined out before Xmas last year. My sewing room, at present, was hubby's workshop! I do love my little sewing room (especially now with loo next door!) But I feel a bit isolated when I'm sewing of a night time, & out there alone! With my new sewing room, I shall have views of the back garden, weeping cherry, natives, and the birds to watch...which I love to do! So heres a few pics of my little sewing room...

Flowers on Display in My Garden...

I have been inspired by fellow bloggers like Chookyblue who takes some awesome pics of flowers, and scenery of where she lives. So I thought I might take just a few pics, thinking that there wasn't much on offer in my garden, but have been pleasantly surprised! I also walk daily, and always seem to forget my camera, but today, I finally remembered! So heres a few snapshots....

A finish!..And a start!

It's been a busy week here, with our local school having an Arts In Action Day( crafty day where the kids get to make a variey of crafty items!) I took my sewing machine in, and we made a cover for a notebook! The kids that I had were grade 4's and had no sewing machine experience, but went really well. They thought it was really cool to sew and make something! We also had to take our eldest son to the 'big smoke' for a doctors appointment. I hate going into the city, as I am very much the country bumpkin! I did, however, manage to complete a stitchery I started a little while ago, 'A Little Shabby' wallhanging, which was in Homespun 44 Vol.8 No.1. A Natalie Lymer design. I also started Anni Downs' How to Grow Angels. I know I'm going to have fun making this cute one! Hope your all having a great weekend!
