Crappy photos!

Yes, two posts in one day...but after I did my last post on my covered notepad, and looked at my crappy photo...I knew I had done something wrong. Turns out that I only had camera on the wrong setting...portrait of all things!

I mentioned in a previous post, that I use my dressing gown as a pincushion, which probably isn't a good idea...so I hunted out my Leanne beasley couch companion, that I made last year (pre blog) and decided to make good use of it!

I think that you all know by now that I love my garden...this is a stitchery I designed last year with 'My Garden' in mind...sometimes its nice to have a play with a few drawings and seeing it all come together once stitched and sewn.

My protea...will it ever open!lol!

Bye for now

One More!

Not as cold here this morning, so I was very brave and went out early (in p/j's)lol! to take a pic of the latest project...large covered notebook. All the projects that I have made from the Anni Downs book, I used blanket stitch on the machine, instead of needleturn... I just find it quicker and easier.
Only have the large purse to make from the book, then I can move back onto Gardeners Journal and Life is Beautiful...well thats the plan!
Enjoy your week and keep warm!

This Saturday I'm off to Evandale for a stitching day with Marg Lowe, Libby Richardson and Rhonda Leith...looking forward to it!

A Few More...

A few more from Anni Downs new book...another notebook cover, tissue holder and birdcage keyring (which is my favourite). I didn't use the snap fastener for the second notebook, as I don't really like them...just used an elastic hair band and button instead.

Enjoy your Sunday

Note Book

Another little project from Anni Downs new book...using just 1 1/2 x 4 inch strips, its a great way to use up those little scraps....and would make a lovely little gift...but this one is for me! lol! My handbag is going to be super-duper organised when I'm finished!
So pleased its Friday...no school lunches and a sleep in! Yay!
Enjoy your weekend

This Weeks Snappyfriends Challenge...Self!

This weeks snappyfriends challenge is 'self'. I have been worried all week about how I would go about it as I'm not very comfortable having my pic taken and was putting it off...waiting maybe for that good hair day lol! So decided today was the day to just 'do it'. So you can see a snippet of me in the corner taking a pic of myself in the mirror...and the other my daughter(8) took back in January.

Nearly the end of the week already...I have completed 3 small Anni Downs stitcheries, from her new book, and hope to make them up on the weekend.

Bye for now

Evanadale...Getting Close!

Only a week away until the Evandale Stitching day with Marg Lowe, Libby Richardson and Rhonda Leith. Marg Lowe has put a couple of her Evandale projects on her blog...which look really lovely! I know I will have to rug up, as its always freezing there, and previous years I've been, I haven't been able to take my coat off!

These bookmarks designed by Marg Lowe from Quilted Crows Gathering at Campania last year. I kept one, and gave the othr to my daughter.

Enjoy your weekend

A Little One!

Looks can be deceiving...its only a small coin purse from Annis' new book. I have ordered the large frame to make the larger purse from the book also.
I have been doing lots of playing with the new blogger templates, as you can probably see! I don't usually go for darker backgrounds, but I think it makes the pics stand out more. I also have worked out how to make my pics bigger...am loving having a play!
Another frost on the way here...getting cold already!
Enjoy your week

Anni Downs' New Book

After shovelling gravel this morning...this is just what I needed...the postie to deliver Anni Downs new book from The Quilted Crow girls. Another lovely book from Anni...my biggest dilemma, is what project to start first!lol!

No sewing to show from the weekend. I spent time with my daughter(8) doing a few craft projects...she loved it...and must admit I enjoyed it too!

I have spent the last few days giving the house a good once over...it was much needed too! 3 kids and hubby can make quite a mess!lol!

Enjoy your week!

Saying Goodbye!

Having the same computer monitor for about 10 years, we finally decided we had to upgrade! We had left it so long because we didn't know whether to go with a laptop or just monitor and keyboard. So today, we said goodbye to our old monitor, that needed a whack to get the colour back in it!lol! and replaced it with a 19 inch. I can only describe the difference as amazing!!! All your blogs look so much better, and my pictures aren't that small after all!lol! I am probably only seeing things how you guys already see it! I am going to do lots of blogging tonight...if I can get the kids off the computer!lol!

Another oldie...Bareroots bag, I saw this bag on display in The Quilted Crow a few years back...and just had to make it!

Some Oldies

Daisyquilts shared some pics recently of some of her older projects, and asked if anyone would like to also share some oldies too. So heres a few of mine.....

An Annie doll, has a heart attached above and below her. A pattern from a local lady here in Tassie, that had a shop called 'Made with Pride' Now closed down.

A punchneedle, from Country Threads I think...done before I could do any embroidery by hand!

Can you remember this one? A Chook Shed pattern...Kitchen Closed This Chooks Had It!!! I still have it hanging in my kitchen, and often remind the kids it is there! I was mad on anything with Chooks in it at one stage!lol!

Hope you have a great weekend

Joy Of A Garden Pincushion

Anni Downs' 'Joy of a Garden' Pincushion from Homespun No 84 Vol 11 No 5...sure was a joy to make! I used a mug tree, that I already had, for the stand, and as I don't have alot of felt, I just made do with my fabric, where Anni had used felt.

I nearly have as many pincushions as I do bags now, but still use my dressing gown to put my needle in, when I do sewing of a night time!lol!

Lunching out!

Hubby suggested a bbq at the block today, and as that means I don't have to cook or wash up, I jumped at the chance! We have a few acres about 5 minutes from where we live, where we have a few sheep and chooks. The boys love it there, as they can explore and ride their motorbikes! Its been quite a while since I had been there...its so nice to see the water holes full. We went 3 years with having no water in the waterholes at all! My eldest son (13) took me for a walk to where he sits and watches the roo...we did see a couple, but didn't get very good pics. I did however get a pic of a robin red breast...such a pretty bird.

I have been getting a few hexies together for my Anni Downs pincushion...I have finished the 2 hexie segments...now to start on the stitcheries!

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday

Playing

I am sorry to those people who have been to my blog recently and there seems to be some weird things happening, but I have been playing! I have been unhappy with the amount of time it takes blogger to upload images, and thought it was about time I visited Chookyblue...yet again...for her helpful tute on emailing pics to your posts. Its so much quicker doing it this way! I could only ever post 3 pics at a time before...so you might find I have a few picture heavey posts from now on!lol!
This is a picture of a bag I made in my pre-blog days...a Bareroots pattern from Country Threads, which I gave to my Mum...she has quite a collection of my bags too!lol!
Another really cold day here...I hope where ever you are, that you are staying warm and getting lots of sewing done!

Enjoy your weekend!

I have made 4 more Hexie flowers and have sorted out what I was doing wrong with my first one...I had to make the thread tension a bit tighter, so the thread wouldn't show through from the front. I think I am now ready to start on the 3/4 inch hexies needed for Anni Downs' pincushion from last Homespun. These flowers I have made so far , were made using the 1 inch paper template. I found the best storage for my hexie gear, is just a biscuit tin, and the finished hexies I can store in the plastic sleeve of my latest folder.
Still anxiously waiting for my 'Cream Mink' Protea to open!

I thought it was cold on the weekend...well its even colder here today...can definately tell theres snow on the mountain!

My First Hexie Flower

I made my very first hexie flower last night...they really should come with an addiction warning!lol! They are so much fun to make. I have wanted to make hexie flowers for so long, and when I received my recent Homespun issue with Anni Downs' pincushion...I knew I just HAD to learn! Plus there have been lots of Wednesday hexie flowers popping up in blogland tormenting me!lol!
I know my first flower is not perfect...but I feel I learn from my mistakes and can correct it for next time!

My Hakea flower is lovely at the moment...I love how they change colour with age.
I hope you have a great week!

Gardeners Journal Block finished

I am a few days late with my Gardeners Journal block. This arvo I had a good run out in my sewing room, and finally got it finished. I already had a pot of pumpkin soup made, ready to be warmed up, which gave me more time to sew!
Bye for now
