Gardeners Journal blocks

I have finished my 2 Gardeners Journal blocks that has been taking every spare minute of my time this week...and I am very pleased to be now caught up! To keep on track, I am going to dedicate every Friday night to GJ stitching!!

I covered a binder especially for Gardeners Journal, which has inside pockets for list of stitchery blocks for each month...the GJ book slips inside the cover and plastic sleeves hold photocopies of patterns, selected threads and fabric pieces that have already been cut. I am sure without this binder I wouldn't be able to find a thing! Now all I have to do is tidy the HUGE mess I have left out in my sewing room!lol!

Enjoy your weekend

Inspiration!

I took a few pics this morning, after the rain we had yesterday, for snappyfriends challenge which was 'small', of my small native flower, and also discovered the raindrop hanging from a spiderweb. But it also gave me inspiration from the simple little flowers...with a star centre...can you see it? Directly above the raindrop? Will have to start some more drawings!

Have a great weekend! More rain forecast for here....great sewing weather!

It sure does brighten the day when you get a fabric parcel like this...purchased from Annies Cottage Crafts a lovely fabric store at St Helens here in Tassie. I have special plans for this fabric range 'Wellesley Collection' by Ro Gregg...I think its just gorgeous!!!
Only one more Gardeners Journal stitchery to go, then I can piece together 2 blocks and then be all caught up!

Stitching Frenzy!!!

I have been stitching like mad to try and catch up on my Gardeners Journal...I don't usually sit down and sew of a daytime, but I had to , to be able to get all the stitching done for the house...so much stitching in it!!! I have changed my colours in the house to match 'our house' too! I only have a few flowers left to go on the house, and then I'm going to start on the next block, and challenge myself to get them both finished before the end of the month!!! Who needs sleep anyway!!!lol!

A couple more books....'A Fresh Look at Seasonal Quilts'
And 'Pretty Little Pincushions'...you can click on the collages to get a better look! I have only picked out a few favourites from each book.

I also made some Dark Chocolate mud cup cakes Sunday (needed a sewing break)...I found the recipe on Thimbelinas blog. And they are just sooo yummy!!!! I went to the supermarket to buy the ingredients, and discovered they had the book W/Weekly Cupcakes by colour...caramel mud cakes and carrot cakes were just too much of a temptation! But is is really a lovely book! I also purchased a couple more recipe (easy) books...sometimes I get a bit sick of cooking the same old thing!

Enjoy your week

Purchases

Yesterday afternoon I went for a drive down the coast to collect eldest boy from high school and save him the 1 hour bus trip home and also stock up on meat and a few crafty supplies. I don't usually buy jelly rolls, but fell in love with the colours in this one...'patisserie'.
I purchased quite a few books from the Quilt and Craft fair the other week, so I thought I would pick out a couple of favourite books and share some projects from inside...
'Felties'...ideal for the beginner or for an easy gift...would make cute little tags. The little mushroom girl is my favourite. (you might have to click on image for closer look)
This book called 'Pretty Little Cozies' and has got so many easy to make projects in it.... The red and white spot diary cover has a pocket inside for the diary and also a place for 2 pens and 2 pockets for smaller notepads (on my 'to do' list)
If you are keen to see some more 'inside pics' of my recent book purchases(I have quite a few more)...let me know and I can do some more collages.
Enjoy your weekend

Inspiration!!

A couple more garden drawings last night while watching Vicar of Dibley...one of my favourite shows at the moment. These pictures were taken last spring/summer as my weeping rose is nothing but a stitck at the moment...how our garden changes! This is one of my favourite daisies...it looks like any other common daisy, but when it ages, the petals crimp inwards. Also a nice and easy one to strike, so I have a couple in the garden.
My hubby tells me he is catching up at work, so he will be able to get back into the sewing room and reno's...yay!! I hope he's not teasing this time...everytime I look out my kitchen window I see a partially built sunny sewing room!!! We have been buying things gradually as we can afford it...tiles for laundry, bathroom and toilet. Paints were picked out ages ago, doors and handles...even the UV blinds have been purchased for the sewing room! But they do say 'All good things come to those who wait'!!...and I have been VERY patient!lol!
I hope you all have a great weekend

Fuzzy Bumble Bee!

Alot of you who have previously visited my blog, would know I love to take pictures of bees...so of course I just had to include one in my stitcheries! This little bumble bee was keeping me awake at night...wondering if the punchneedle method would actually work...and so pleased it did! Not sure if you can see in pic, but he has been clipped to shape to give him a 'fuzzy' look!
I am really looking forward to some warmer weather and to when I have the real bumble bee visit my garden again...but for now I have to be happy with my creation!

My First Garden Stitchery block

Yesterdays plan was to make my stitchery into just a wallhanging on its own...but have decided to keep going and make a few more blocks and see how it comes together for a larger wall quilt as originally planned! It could still be used for a wallhanging as is, or even a cushion...but have quite a few more ideas for stitcheries. I shall stitch one more, then I must return to my Gardeners Journal...as I am lagging behind!
Bye For Now

Spider Web Stitchery

I have finished stitching my first design 'Stitcheries in my Garden'. I am really enjoying the whole process of seeing my drawings come to life with needle and thread. I have taken these pictures tonight, and they are not quite true to colour...not quite as vibrant as in pic!
Will start on the bumble bee stitchery next...have worked out a different way to make my bee look 'fuzzy'!

Bye for Now

Stitcheries from my Garden

This is what I have been wanting to do for a while now...design some stitcheries, with my garden in mind, and hopefully make a small wall quilt. Lifes too short not to do these sort of things! So the ones you can see in pic, are only a very rough draft, but only todays effort! So with all that I love in my garden, I have included so far...spider webs, an angel garden stake, Arum Lillies (which I love but had to remove when the kids were small) bumble bees, daisies just a few of my favourites so far. Might have to leave out the Naked boy bird bath though!lol! I am having fun with it though.

Tea time again!
Enjoy your week

Trinkets

I must say that I was very pleased with my finished little cushions. As a first released pattern 'Trinkets' by Jo of Lilly Pilly, I think she has has designed some sweet little stitcheries! I have added a few drops of rose oil to my stuffing...just dipped my wooden skewer into the oil when I'm stuffing...and they are smelling so lovely!!!

Enjoy your week

Purse Chain and some stitching!

Today I received the chain in the post from Studio Mio for my Anni Downs purse. Pleased I decided to go with the chain, matches the frame and fabric quite well! I did also buy another purse frame and chain to make another, but still deciding on fabric!

I have started to stitch Jo's pattern 'Trinkets' and just loving her sweet little designs. I have chosen some 'pretty' fabrics (a change from what I usually use) to go with the Cottage Garden thread...which is just so nice to stitch with! I hope to finish the stitcheries tonight to show later in the week.

Hope you are all having a great start to the week!

The 15 minute Little Gift!

Need to make a little gift...well this one is sooo easy! It took me longer to get the pot belly fire going out in my sewing room, than it took to make one of these Tissue pouches!lol! Wished I could of stayed out in the sewing room longer, it was just starting to get warm...but had to come in and prepare dinner! The pattern is from one of my new book purchases Sew What Bags.
Bye for now

Quilt and Craft fair

It was a fantastic day at the Quilt and Craft fair yesterday. Jane and I arrived at about 11am, (We did stop at Richmond bakery for a coffee and snack..yum) I wished I had taken my camera, as it was quite pretty driving through the heavy frost, even the gum trees were white tipped at 10am!

One of my favourite stalls was Fiona from Mothers Cupboard...she really has some lovely fabrics, and she also has some very cute buttons...after I purchased all these goodies, I stepped back to make room and spotted.......

Jo's gorgeous little cushions...they are so very cute and had to wiggle my way back through the crowd, to purchase a pattern!lol!

A few books from the Dymocks bookstand...yes I was very naughty!

And a beaded bracelet with a little handbag charm and shoes...I just couldn't resist!
I hope you are having a great weekend

Dragonfly

Still playing with my paints...it is taking a bit of getting used to painting on cardstock, but am enjoying it! The card absorbs alot of the moisture from the paint, which makes it hard for linework. I have decided simple flowers, I will make into gift tags and cards, and the one like in picture, that has a bit more work, I will make into notebook covers and keep for gifts.
Bye for now
