R & R!

A few days away with hubby and kids at the Launceston Country Club Villas...as we are not travellers, this is our big holiday for the year. Lol!

So this is pretty much what I did...sit and relax, but with a nice cold beer, not a lemonade! Lol! This is the last stitchery for Gardeners Journal block F which only has to be peiced together now. I did do some stitching towards the next block whilst away too, very keen to have a GJ quilt, especially after seeing more finished quilts on the Stitch-a-long blog!!!
I had to find a craft store whilst away, as I forgot to take an embroidery needle with me and had to purchased all these lovelies! Lots of pretty fabrics at Esmes.
I even found some border fabric for my GJ. I was going to try and use what I had in my stash for the border, but I just really liked this one and hoped it would 'work' as I didn't have any of my GJ fabric samples with me. It looks blue in picture, but its more a Teal.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Zippered Wristlet!

Just having a little break from my GJ (and painting) to make this Zippered Wristlet, ideal for when you just want to take a few things with you and not cart a hand bag around! And best of all, it only took about an hour to make!

Pattern from this book 'Sew What Bags' which is full of great things to make from Tissue pouch, totes, Drawstring bags, Messenger Bags...just really a good book!

Hope you are finding time to do something crafty too!

Slowly Getting there!

A few more stitches on my GJ last night, I only have the daisies to stitch on this one (this is one of my fav stitcheries) I did stitch the daisies in a red, but I wasn't happy with it so I unpicked and will re-do in a apricot colour thread.

A Glady that has only just flowered
You got to love Sunflowers...this one looks like it has been brushed with red paint on the petals!

Some Progress!

I have still been stitching away of a night my Gardeners Journal...have started to think about borders, and as I've used all fabric from my stash so far, I would like to find some also from stash for borders, I have found a pretty pink, but not sure if it will work...will have to take some pics and get some expert advice from all the quilters out there! (Hubby has been no help) Lol!

Enjoying taking pics of whats in flower in my Garden, a Marshmallow which has 2 different shades of flowers on it, this is the darker pink, the other is a very pale pink (can see at my cubbyhousegardens blog)
Lilliums still flowering
This is what I am supposed of doing...painting the ceiling in the new bathroom. I get enough paint on myself when I'm painting walls, lord knows how I will end up after painting above myself! Maybe I could say I've had white tips! Lol!

Bye for Now

Not Giving up on my GJ!

The last couple of days has had me stitching madly away on my Gardeners Journal... I am way behind, but still have plans to catch up!!! I have seen so many beautiful completed GJ quilt tops on the Stitch-a-long blog, which has definately spurred me on to finish mine.
Bums up! Have enjoyed this one!

The 'vegie patch' was the one I was 'stuck' on for so long...nice to have it finished!
One of my lilliums that flowered this morning in the rain...I have also put a few more pics on my other blog cubby house gardens

Next post I hope to have a finished GJ block to show!!!

Bye for Now

Lilliums!

I have been finding it hard to fit in any sewing as we've starting back working on the renovations/extensions. The last few days has had me quite busy in painting doors, decking and outdoor furniture in readiness for a bbq with the in-laws last night. Today, knocking down a brick wall and removing all the bricks...now the real mess has started!!

So, it was such a joy to find my first Lillium in flower and get outside with the camera for some snapshots.

Now I'm off to fill in the storm water trench...yuk! But I have to keep thinking I get a nice new sewing room, laundy, bathroom and WIR and the end of it all....plus burning off all those extra Christmas calories! Lol!

Bye for Now

My favourite spot!

Hubby finished putting the new deck down before Christmas, ready for dining out on Christmas day. We have spent all our spare time out there since! All the shrubs have grown up around the backyard boundries, which has protected our new deck beautifully!

All my favourites mingled together...Agapanthas,Grevillea, Salvia, Kangaroo paws, Penstemon.
This is where we sit on the lounge chairs watching the bumble bees and the birds. I think that later today I might have to sit with some GJ stitching!
Always a bumble bee on the red Salvia
My white Glady has flowered for the first time. I have been patiently waiting for my Lilliums to flower (Late planting them) Hopefully next post will have some to show.

I hope you have all had a great start to 2011!
