Painting!!

Thankyou for everyone who commented on my paint dilemma...cream or aqua walls. I went with cream walls, and I just have to give final coat this afternoon and then move onto painting skirting etc. in white.

I have used the aqua inside the sliding built in cupboards as you can see in top picture, and will just have it as a backdrop behind shelving where I can display my favourite fabrics and buttons and bits and pieces. If I get sick of the colour I can just close up the door!! Lol!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Paint help needed please!!

I thought I had all the paint sorted for the sewing room...an aqua colour called 'Noosa Views' until I started painting the edge of the cornice yesterday...it is a very pretty colour, but also very bright! Another paint colour that I already have is a cream colour called 'Jodpurs'

Maybe if I bring in a recently made favourite cushion to see how it looks (colour samples on wall behind)...but still unsure!

What do you think? Cream (Jodpurs) or Aqua (Noosa Views) Doors, architraves and skirtings will be white. (That I am sure of)Lol!

Any feedback very much appreciated!

Sewing room update!!

It finally feels like things are getting close to having a sewing room, hubby has been busy after work and weekends getting it to this stage...

From outside the window...where I have my roses along the front and weeping cherry across the path
side door onto deck and view from main window
Excuse the messy floor...still have to have plaster joins to sand back.(Which means bigger mess!) Sewing desks will run along under the window and part of the side.
this week I will paint it out, and have skirting, arc and cornice fitted and having a look at carpet samples Friday!

I hope you have all had a great weekend!

No sewing at all to show...but have been very busy on the renovations. Had taken your advice Shirley and told hubby you said 'to get that whip cracking on the sewing room' and his response was 'We had better make a start on the weekend then' !! So big thanks Shirley!!!LOL!
View from the sewing room...vegie garden and fruit trees behind the gate

This one taken from inside sewing room...the cubby house behind the weeping cherry.

Will show picture of sewing room on weekend after we hang the plaster.

Design Board!

I have recently purchased Quilters Companion, which has a bonus DVD...Learn how to use a Design Wall with Kathy Doughty (from Material Obsession). I was very impressed with all the ideas for using a design board and design wall and all the tips she gave for selecting fabrics (something I really struggle with)!

A design wall is what I will definately be finding a spot for in the new sewing room, but have decided to hang it over double sliding cupboards using hooks, rod and hanging sleeve (rather than take up valuable space where a quilt can hang)
Also mentioned in the DVD was a portable design board, which I thought was a brilliant idea...being able to take a a block layout to the sewing machine without losing the pieces on the way (which I am always doing) and using sample fabrics to work out colours/design for a project.
My design board is just a thickish piece of styrofoam (thanks hubby) covered with scrap batting (left over from a recent quilt) You could also use cardboard.
(Just an example of an unfinished block on board) No pins just 'clings' to the batting making it easy to see a layout upright!

I think that you can tell from my post I was very inspired by the DVD, and to make something at no cost is also a bonus!

Enjoy your weekend

Humble Home!

I feel very priviliged to have Sally Giblin send me one of her patterns 'Humble Home' from her new pattern range.

The little verse reads...Be it ever so humble...There's no place like home
Such a beautiful design to stitch and sew, my only dilemma was which fabrics to use!
Very pleased with my new cushion, and it will have pride of place in my new sewing room (if it's ever finished...Lol!)

Tis The Season fabrics!

Okay, now I'm very excited about starting Tis The Season, after purchasing my fabrics from Annies Cottage Crafts in St Helens today. I really loved the border fabric, which is a pretty peach Paisley. If you are in tassie and get a chance, call in and see Annie she is such a lovely lady!

My Gardeners Journal Finished!!!

It's so good to have my Gardeners Journal finished...I was up until 1.30 putting the final stitching on the binding. I really love all Anni Downs' cute and quirky stitcheries in this quilt...although I must admit I did get a bit 'stuck' in the vegie patch! Lol!
I used all my repro fabric from my stash, but had to buy the outer border fabric...wish I had purchased more from Esmes as its really lovely!

Hours and hours of stippling yesterday!
Now I have to work out fabrics for the next stitch-a-long Tis The Season, which I am looking forward to! Are you joining us? Details can be found on the stitch-a-long blog.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday

The plan is now to quilt it this weekend whilst the kids and hubby are away camping...also have a lovely stitchery pattern that came in the post and very eager to start...will share with you next time.
