Our Red Room...

Now the red room is all finished...hubby hung My Favourite Things quilt last night. I am still not sure whether I will keep the table and chairs where they are or put them under my quilt. I have been moving them around all afternoon, so I have decided to see how they look in the next few days. Miss 10 and I have plans to have a special lunch set up in the red room for Fathers Day
I really need to make some more quilts to hang on my quilt rack...Matilda's Station was the second quilt I made
My 2 chairs I picked up second hand some time ago
I am unable to post through Picasa at the moment, so I have had to email my pics to my blog. So I hope it's all worked out!

Well my old sewing room has now been freshly painted and I can start to move all my things out there now. My cabinet was the first to go out, as it has been in the middle of my sewing room for some time. The table is only going to be a temporary one until I can find one more suitable. Although Hubby did tell me he was going to make me one! I still have my 'My Favourite Things' quilt to hang on the wall and a couple of chairs for the other end of the room. So I will share more pics later.

This room has come a long way seeing it was once my hubby's workshop in his shed!lol! I have been thinking that this room really should have a name. The framing around the french doors is a heritage red...so I am calling it the Red Room!

Baking Day

Things didn't go as planned this weekend. Painting my old sewing room didn't happen, as when we took one of my folk art cabinets off the wall, some plaster also came with it...so hubby had to do a bit of patching. But it did give me a day of baking!

Violet Crumble Cheesecake for desert

Pumpkin Soup...with some cooked chopped bacon added to garnish added a nice flavour, and served with Focaccia

Thank you so much Susan for the recipe...it was yumm!! I will be making this quite a bit from now on!

I have included the recipe for the Violet Crumble cheesecake...hope it can be read easily!! This recipe came from my SIL, and she also gave me one for Tim Tam cheesecake. So I will test that one next and let you know how it goes!

Tilda doll no 2!

Well I finally made some clothes for my poor naked Tilda doll...she is feeling alot more comfortable now in her clothes and was rather embarrassed with only a few crochet flowers!!. As you can see she is quite the lady

Tilda dolls seem to have a stylish elegance about them...maybe is's those shapely legs!

Now it's time to prepare tea...steak with pepper gravy and salad for me and hubby, and pies for the kids.

Bye For Now!

My New Quilt Rack...

Look what arrived at my doorstep yesterday...

A quilt stand from the lovely Fee! It really is gorgeous and I am so happy with it. I will be putting it out in the room I am painting out, which was once my old sewing room. It is going to look perfect out there with my newly made over cabinets.

I wanted to share a pic of the pie dishes purchased from 'House' in Launceston last weekend. Love the colours and the shape.

I have also had a bit of trouble working out word verification when commenting on peoples blogs, and have even had the kids have to help me out with the letters! I thought it might have just been me, but it seems that alot of people have been having the same problem...so to make it easier to comment , I have switched my word verification off. Hope this makes it easier now for visitors to comment!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend...lots of painting for me to do!

Don't Look Now...I'm naked!

He he! I can hear my kids now...ohh Mum!!! But there is a reason for my silliness today. I found that the other day when I was stuffing my first Tilda doll, a few creases appeared around the neck...I even pulled out my stuffing and re-did it, but there was still a few crease lines. I always have Crisp spray starch in my sewing room, as I use it all the time, so I thought I would spray some on whilst I was stuffing the neck on this doll...and it worked!!! So to give you a demo and a before and after, so you can see the difference...

In the photo above I have sprayed the Crisp in the crease in the waistline area, (between the crochet flowers lol) and then left it to dry without touching it

And this is the after pic!!! It really does work.

This is the Tilda doll on the front of the new magazine that's now out. (And available at Newsagencies)...she has the cutest hat, so I thought I would add a brim to the little crochet beanie to give a simalar style

I am quite pleased how it turned out!

Now I had better go and make some clothes for my naked Tilda girl...lol!
A N D
I am also going to go out and buy a truck load of Crisp spray and spray some on myself to see if all my creases/wrinkles come out!!!lol!

Bye For now

Tilda Beanies

I made a few of the little Tilda beanies from Tilda Spring Ideas book...a girl needs to try a few different colours before she decides! Lol! I used the pink on my Tilda (in previos post), but I have a cream, white and blue if anyone would like to make the doll from the book but unable to crochet...Just send me an email or leave a comment.

Tilda Garden Party Angel....

I do love Tilda books...but I think that Tilda Spring Ideas is my favourite so far.

I knew as soon as I saw this Garden Anglel from the book with her little crochet beanie I had to make her!

Now I'm off to curl up on the couch with my Tilda magazine that arrived in the mail today.

Bye for now

Tilda Bug

I received my copy of Tilda's Spring Ideas on Friday, from Sarah's online store...in record time as I only ordered it the day before! I fell in love with all the projects in the book, but decided to make the bug first. Very simple to make, as I started last night and finished this morning.

the snail I made last year from another of the Tilda books

I am not sure if you can see, but the bug wings are made from an embroidered table centre purchased from vinnies

I hope you all have a great day!

Some Basic Cooking...

Yesterday, my sister and I had morning tea at Mum's, it's nice to get together and talk craft and have a show and tell session. Mum had made her  Date Loaf and Jane had taken a plate of her biccies...ones that she makes all the time and always telling me about from the 4 Ingredients cookbook. And for biscuits that only have 4 ingredients they really are yum!! I was so impressed with the biscuits I went home and made some  too!

The recipe is called Basic Biscuits...with 500g butter, 5 cups SR Flour, 1 Cup sugar and one tin condensed milk. To this basic mixture you can add Choc bits, smarties, sultanas, cornflakes etc

and what I also love is that it makes a decent quantity!! I made 60 plus biscuits

This is the Spaghetti Bolognese which we had for tea last night...I added bacon and snuck in some carrots just for the kids(lol) but it was really nice! The bacon adds quite a nice flavour. The other ingredients was just 1 kg mince, large diced onion, 1 tspn minced garlic, large can crushed tomatoes, 200g tomato paste, salt and pepper and a bay leaf...served with parmesan cheese

I do like to try different recipes, but I always find that most recipes require ingredients that you need to purchase from specialty stores(and cost a fortune)...and sometimes I haven't even heard of  before!

I would love it if anyone would like to share their favourite 'basic' recipe.
