My youngest (Miss 9) has wanted to make this dolly for quite some time, so I thought it would make a good easter project. I purchased the book Made By Me by Jane Bull last year and she has made quite a few projects from it...and it is truly a beautiful book for little sewers!

I did help her with the hand stitching on the face (she did one eye) and machine stitching around the body shapes, but she did all the stuffing and sewing of the skirt herself. It's amazing how quickly little sewers pick things up.

That dolly is so cute, I love her earrings. Enjoy the sewing time with your daughter, I have 3 boys so I have to sew by myself. Maybe one day I'll have a grand daughter who shares my passion for sewing.
ReplyDeleteIts lovely!! and well done Miss 9....and Lisa this is a kind of doll your daughter will always treasure and will look at it and keep it untill she is old and grey and remember that she has sewing it with her Ma way back when...super!!
ReplyDeletegreetings Francien.
The dolly is so cute. It is so nice to help the little ones sew.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I am Loving that doll - you have a VERY clever daughter on your hands there! My little one is not quite three yet but she's showing signs of being interested already in sewing and needlecraft. She loves threading laces through her beads (big ones as she's only little) and is beginning to do some 'sewing' with big needles, wool and drawer liner with big holes. I can't wait till she's old enough to make something so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYour Daughter is showing some Sewing Talent..woohoo.
