Stitchery Background

I have been asked a few times about what fabric I use for my stitchery background...my favourite has always been Calico, but I have had trouble getting a good quality to stitch on...and my supply was getting low. So I was quite pleased to find Spotlight had 10 metre rolls back in stock. I don't get into a Spotlight store very often, but use their shop at home service.

all the above stitcheries I have used Calico

A 10 Metre roll for only $32.95 which I think is a pretty good price! Postage is about an extra $7.00.

Do you have a preferred background fabric for stitching on?

Enjoy your week

I do have to confess that after getting a kit that had hanky linen in it... I'm a bit sold on hanky linen! I love the feel of it. Maybe it's because I'm used to doing cross stitches on linen?

Beautiful stitcheries Lisa, I love to use tea stain. I use that in most of my stitcheries, I also discovered hanky linen which is fast becoming a favourite to stitch on, I love the feel of it.

I brought a hole bolt of moda bella solids which is a cream 100 cotton. Lovely to work with.

Hello Lisa,

I use either cream homespun or calico like you. I haven't heard of hanky linen so will have to check that one out. I used to use the Spotlight service when I wanted to send things to my daughter who lived 5 hours away, it was easier and cheaper to order her a gift from Spotlight and get them to post it.

Happy days.

Calico is my favourite.
You do the most beautiful crisp stitching - well done.

Wahooo... I love calico as well. Must admit I have been frowned at by some as calico "isn't quite the thing". But me... I love the honset feel of calico and it works up so crisply. Glad to hear that your beautiful stitching is on calico as well!!
