Snowman finished!

I finished the little snowman from the Tilda book today. They are such easy, fun projects and am just loving this book! Still haven't got any berries for the wreath...will have to put it on my list to buy! The Quilted Crow Gathering at Campania (with Leanne and Rosie)is fast approaching! Three of our five family members have been sick with a bug thats going round at the moment, so I'm trying to avoid catching that! I just CAN'T get sick on Saturday!

Cornet Angel

I would love to make every project in the Tilda Crafting Christmas Gifts book! This is the cornet angel from the book...it was a bit hard to get a good pic. I didn't have berries to make a wreath, so I made up a wreath with a dried flower that I have in the garden at the moment. It was quite pliable, so I was able to shape it quite well. She kinda reminds me of postman pat with wings!
I am in the stages of making a snowman...so I will hopefully have one to show, later in the week!

Another sewing apron and cover!

I finished making the other sewing machine apron and machine cover last night...(they are very addictive!) just made the apron slightly wider as this one is quite a big machine. Just added some ric rac on this one to match the apron. Not sure whats on the agenda next...I have just bought a Crafting Christmas Gifts book by Tilda..has some really cute projects in it...maybe have some xmassy projects to share next time! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Sewing machine apron...

I know I'm a bit late for those sewing machine covers and sewing mat challenges..but better late than never! Just loved making this mat...it's in the latest Handmade 27 no.5. The clever Clare designed this, which was such fun to make!
I thought I should also make a sewing machine cover to match...after all the hard work our machines do..we shouldn't neglect them..and its not nice to see a 'naked' sewing machine! lol!

I have decided to make another sewing mat and sewing machine cover, using Clares pattern for the mat and maybe the cover made with strips instead of squares. So will post a pic when I'm finished!

It was a gorgeous morning here at the beach...hope your all having a great day!

The Christmas Goose...!

Not much sewing done...that I can show you...only this little xmas goose bag. An Anni Downs design which would make a lovely xmas gift filled with homemade goodies or lollies. Most of my weekend was spent packing & labelling everything for my two eldest(12 & 10) to go on school camp. My youngest (7) is not yet old enough to go...gets some spoilt special time with just us. You just gotta love spring...all the flowers...the bottlebrushes are just starting to flower, Geraldton wax,and the white wisteria on our carport entrance. My weeping rose 'buff beauty' is a mass of buds..will share a pic when its out!

Daisies are also one of my favourites...its just a mass of purple with a neighbouring blue daisy...the bees just love it!

At the Heart of Christmas is Family!

This cushion would have to be one of my favourite Christmas projects that I have made, also my first Xmassy one! I was lucky enough to attend a stitchery day held at Evandale here in Tassie, where the lovely Christine Book was one of the tutors! I think that you can all relate to the little verse on the cushion also! I am also very excited to say, that I have signed up for my first swap...its only a little one..but still exciting just the same....so big thankyou for those two ladies for organising the Christmas ornament swap...its going to be great fun! Hope you are all having a great day!

Sewing Room update...

Not much sewing was done yesterday...it was too nice a day to spend inside. Thought I would take a couple of pics of some flowers in the garden...the weeping cherry is flowering nicely after its big move...and am loving this daisy at the moment..the colour is so vibrant. Luckily I can easily strike it...so can have a few in our garden!
The sewing room\extensions are coming along...hubby is doing the building after he finishes work and weekends...this morning though, he is out fishing in the boat with the boys hopefully catching a flathead for tea! (And much deserved R&R) Enjoy your day!

Retail Therapy...

Today we (me, Mum and sister) drove down the coast to stock up on a few supplies, meat, etc. We called into Sufi's craft & tearooms and found some fabrics for the Melly & Me bag I'm going to make. There's nothing like a bit of fabric shopping to lift ones spirits! The postman delivered a parcel from Hatched and Patched...a few patterns to keep me busy! I'm looking forward to making the Melly & Me 'Candy' bag and a little coin bag to match!
And of course... a couple of Anni Down patterns!

Keeping Busy!

I finished 'Home for Summer' cushion yesterday. An Anni Downs pattern. I have to confess that I did make a few mistakes, as my mind did tend to wonder a bit...the borders arn't quite the same as in the pattern..but I'm still happy with it.
I also gave a chair a coat of paint (it was red!) to sit my new cushion on...

My son (10) took some photos of a birds nest we have in our backyard..He seems to take some good pics....but don't worry...he knows not to disturb the eggs and he wasn' at risk of falling as the nest was in a low hedge.

My Week...The stresses of Life!

We love our children, try and protect them from lifes crazies if we can...Teach them right from wrong...give them a cuddle or bandaid when they are hurt...but sometimes you just have no control of whats going to happen...
Wednesday, my eldest (in grade 6) came home from school traumatised-he had bruising on his shoulder from what another parent had done to him whilst on school grounds! As if this wasn't enough ...
Friday, we are told from our sons(same child) doctor, that he has to have a bone biopsy and that his osteocondroma(benine tumour) has grown a bit bigger on his upper arm, stretching all the nerves. We have to wait for the doctor to speak with another specialist who deals with tumours in children in Melbourne, to find out what to do next regarding an operation. So life has sent us a couple of hard blows these past few days, but I know that there are people out there worse off than us. So I am just trying to stay on top of things! I wanted to explain all this... in case things go a bit quiet on the blogging front, that its only because of doctors appointments etc.
On a much brighter note, I did manage to do some stitching on my "Home for the Summer" cushion (Anni Downs) earlier in the week. I hope to have it finished this weekend, as it takes my mind off things. for a little while at least!
