Flower arranging....

Something I have always wanted to learn is flower arranging. My efforts in the past have been quite pathetic with just popping a few flowers in a vase! Today I looked into an online flower arranging course but they cost thousands! I did find a youtube video covering the basics on flower arranging...so I ventured out into the garden and gathered what flowers I could find(which wasn't much this time of year) and with what knowledge I had obtained on youtube I gave it a go!

The 4 steps they said to do were...

1. Add Greenery first

2. Add Structrual Flowers

3. Add filler flowers...try and balance all the way around the vase

4. Add spilling flowers around bottom

Do you have any tips or tricks for flower arranging? I would love to hear any feedback!!

I am now even more eager than ever for my garden to spring to life so I can practice some more...lol!!

Bye For Now

Lisa

You have done a wonderful job they look terrific. I'm afraid all I do is plonk them in a vase and hope for the best. Louise

You have done really well, that's a lovely arrangement. I have a lovely big protea that keeps me in flowers over winter, but I just cut them and stick them in a vase. I bought a huge bunch of natives for only $12 today from a roadside stall, they were amazing value. Looking forward to seeing your Spring arrangements.

Your arrangement is lovely! I took a class in college that included some flower arranging, but I've forgotten everything I learned. Too long ago! So I just pop then in a vase and hope they look good:)

Hello Lisa,

I did a one day course many years ago with native flowers. The only thing I remember is that the flowers are not to be even in the vase. Your arrangement is lovely. There are plenty of flower arranging books around that would be helpful.

Have fun with it.
Happy days.

G'day Lisa. Your flowers look lovely.I just tend to plonk them in a vase, sometimes it's works and looks great, other times it requires a bit of fiddling. Take care. Liz...

Your arrangement looks beautiful. I find it sometimes helps to have some support, like oasis, and I often google flower arrangement pictures so I can see what the end product should look like. Have fun, Wendy xx

Those colours look great together. The best thing about Winter has to be that the Proteas are in flower!
Cheers....Jane.
